About
Hello, and thank you for your interest in my work. I am an artist, mother, and nature lover currently living in Central Oregon. I grew up in Pennsylvania, and attended Kutztown University for my BFA. After working as a graphic designer for several years after college, my husband and I took the leap to move west. We bought a beautiful plot of land on top of a mountain in southern Oregon and pursued our dreams of a mountain life with a little cabin. We enjoyed 6 beautiful years there while our children enjoyed their youngest years. We recently moved to the Bend area so our kids could have more opportunities for expanded education. A great way to get to know more about me is by reading my FAQ.
FAQ
Things I am asked most often.
What inspires you?
I am most inspired by nature. I am very inspired by the idea that we are nature, and that we are not separate from it. That nature is worth honoring. Both the nature around us, and the nature inside us. That those two things are one and the same. That we are all very deeply connected to each other and everything around us. Creating art more importantly is our way to connect to that.
When did you start painting?
I truly believe we are all born artist in some form or another. I have always loved art and had a deep desire to pursue it. At the age of 12, my mother died of cancer and I became an orphan. It was at this time that I found myself living in a residential school. Thinking back to that time is overwhelming, but the one escape I had to my reality was the art club being offered at school. I found the security I needed in art. I found the therapy and healing I deeply needed in the act of creating. As I child I did not realize the powerful medicine I was tapping into, but now as an adult I can say art saved me. It transformed my life and helped me find myself. It still does that today. Art leads me home to myself over and over again.
I am forever grateful for that.
Why watercolor?
Because I love to draw! Simplest answer, watercolor and working on paper lends well to drawing. I also have small kids at home now so working in oils is more difficult, with the need for long drying times and paint thinner.
Where can I see your work in person?
I am local to Bend, Oregon. I participate in the Northwest Crossing market every Saturday from June through the end of September. I also participate in larger art events. I post new and upcoming events on the homepage.
Do you do commission work?
Yes! if you are interested in a custom piece please send me an email with the details so we can discuss pricing.
